I used to, up until about 5 years ago. Then it started - most stuff for sale was trash. Broken items and things that don't work and useless dust-catchers and craft fair stuff. Added to that, the stuff worth having, the people wanted as much or more than retail value. This has real soured me on garage sales. I'm not going to pay to haul someone else's junk away or pay more that I can get it new in a store.

I attend many garage and estate sales. Where I live, they have "city wide" garage sales once a year. lots of good stuff, cheap. I guess the large amount of sales makes the pices lower. I gave up on auctions because people pay more than the stuff sold for new. I have also seen "baiters" used to raise the bids.

I have gotten lots of crap at auctions & garage/estate sales, but I have gotten a few really nice things too.
