Find out what they are eating and where they seem to gather the most. Is there fruit some place? I used a bottle of window cleaner with ammonia added to spray each time I saw them I sprayed every area they seemed to like, such as the kitchen sink, kitchen counter, bathroom sink and toilet. Clean the kitchen counter very well with soap and water. Spray all trash cans daily with the ammonia/d\window cleaner. You can add a few drops of dish soap to it as well. Be sure not to mix ammonia and bleach. The fumes produced from that can hurt you. Bleach and vinegar is also a deadly combination I am told that can harm you and your family. The fruit flies are growing someplace. Check everywhere for rotten fruit, spilled fruit juice. CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN to get rid of all their food. Soak your dish rags in a mild solution of bleach: 2/100 or 1/100 daily and over night. Everything wet is a potential breeding spot. It took me two weeks to get rid of them. Someone is your house or you has left some sort of food residue that has decayed. Perhaps there is a spill between your stove and counter top.

Pour about a 1/4 to 1/2 cup ammonia down all the drains where you see the darn things. Let it sit several hours before running water through the drain. You may have to repeat the process when they reappear.

Food and organic material where the flies can lay their eggs must be removed. Garbage cans should have tight fitting lids and be cleaned regularly. Gaps in doors and windows should be closed to prevent access by flies.

Well if this is an indoor problem...and you have plants...you may be over watering them. If this is the case simply place the plants outside (in a warm climate) for a few days and let it dry out. If you live in a cold climate you will have to be patient and let the plant dry out indoors, or in a garage if possible. Hope this helps.

You can buy little "gnat posts". I remember we did that when we couldn't get rid of gnats and they fly into it and get stuck to it. You can get them from stores like Target, Walmart, ect. Good luck!

could try putting cayenne pepper in the soil,
a natural spray can be made by mixing water with a few drops of baby oil, dish soap, some cayenne pepper & nicotine ( soak a cigarette in the water )
usually kills all pests with out the use of chemicals

Move the thing that is attracting them near the door to the outside. Many will not survive any cold air. Then move the attraction just outside of the door, and they will swarm to it.
