I love my flat top stove. I have copper and stainless steel pots and pans that hang above mine and I've dropped them on numerous occasions right on the glass and nothing what so ever happened to them. I don't think there is a pot or pan you can't use. I have my copper bottom stainless steel, tramontina non stick pans, and cast iron. You can pretty much use any pot you like because these stove tops are incredible durable these days. You can even use a straight edge razor to remove the seriously burnt on stuff. I wouldn't trade my stove for anything.
Good Luck

Smooth bottom pots and pans. No grids or any sort of pattern. I'm very happy with mine.
