i want to trap raccoons at my mountain house but have never trapped befor, i need some advice for the best way

i need an effective way to catch a group of raccoons that are getting into my mountaian house and causing damage

Don't trap them. Just spray perfume all around the place and the smell should keep them away.

The best way to trap them for transport to another location is to put dry dog food in a Hava-Heart trap and catch them that way Usually there are two, a male and female together and possibly some babies (now teens) See if you can rent the traps as the large ones are expensive and only used a few times. Try the feed and grain store. Wear protection and heavy gloves when transporting the and letting them loose. Try to catch both at same time as will will be easier when you let one loose the other will follow. Make sure they aren't set loose to give someone a problem. If you do he may have a shot gun and cause more damage to you house than the coons. You could also try an exterminator as they usually do all pests. May be cheaper and no problem

good luck, Racoons have a range of miles, so relocating them will not work, [tryed that] cover all openings with chicken wire, when your gone, thats the only thing i have found to keep them out,

caulk and repair the house...hard to keep the whole natural world at bay, maybe you should take it from a different stance. Also they might be protected wildlife.
