For some unknown reason, gnats have invaded my home! They seem to love flying into my face and I am constantly swatting at the "air" trying to avoid them going up my nose, in my eyes or, YUCK, down my throat! I try sleeping with my head under the blanket but that never lasts once I'm asleep! Does anyone have any tricks to keep them away from me? They are driving me insane! Thanks!

I believe this bug came in my home with the plants I brought in from my porch. I would like to find out what kind of bug/insect I have found and brought into my home. It is small enough to hide under a plant leaf, is black with orange markings on its back, it has legs but I'm not sure how many. I don't know if this bug is just in east TN or if it is found everywhere.

My bird died and I was digging a grave for it and as I was digging, at about 20 cm in the ground I noticed two round balls, they look like tapeworms curled into a round ball. As I examined it a little closer I noticed that a little bit was moving. There are two and right now they're placed in an air tight plastic container. I would like to know what it could possibly be. And if it is dangerous in any way how should I get rid of it?
Thank you!

We have a wood-sided house in Southeastern Michigan, and a woodpecker has decided to grace us with his presence. How do we get rid of him legally and humanely? Serious answers only please, we are trying to sell/rent the house and dont want to scare people away as it is VERY annoying. Thanks in advance for your help!

You know, the (usually, I think?) white ... siding!!! I can't think of how to describe it. It's the stuff that keeps you from seeing under the trailer.

I forgot the name of it. =] And if it really is called siding, I'm going to feel really stupid ....

Anyone know how to tell if my mouse infestation is a big one or just a few mice? I have a dirt floor crawl space for a basement. It's an old house. We've caught two mice so far with the older "traditional" mousetraps. Also, can anyone recommend a good, non toxic (Have a cat) way to get rid of them. Keeping in mind they stay in areas where the cat cannot get. eg. basement entry way, drawers, basement, walls, etc..

I want to know the name of this tree: it is a medium/small tree with black berries, that look similar to blackberries or dewberries.

I bought both of them about 4 years ago. They're both in great working condition, still looks rather new, and have never been repaired. I can't even recall how much i paid for them. I called up Kenmore, and they suggested about 600 together, and told me that model numbers don't really mean much; they were just giving me reasonable estimates to sell them for.

Any suggestions on whether this would be a fair price?

Is something blowing out from wherever the heat takes the air from? Is it dust or mold or some fungus I am getting sick to? I wake up with urge to cough and stuff comes up but I can only swallow it-yuck. I don't have a runny nose nor a sore throat. I just keep coughing up mucus. Why! I don't think I am infected with a virus or bacteria at all. Could some allergen be blowing out?

In the past few months(ever since autumn started), I've noticed that my office's window has been unofficially serving as a hangout for flies. A lot more flies have been flying and buzzing around this window than during the previous warm summer months. These flies tend to be a little larger than normal and much slower-moving than normal, i.e. easy to swat and kill. Last week, I killed as many as 5 flies in one day from that particular window. Today I killed 2 more.

Is there a reason for this??

Perhaps flies become slower and dumber in their last days of life after the summertime ends? Has anyone else observed this? Or, do you think there is some kind of chemical near the window that is attracting them there?(the window seems pretty clean to me, other than a little dust)

Ad in the local paper for firewood and it says "Apple, cherry, fir, pine. Bone dry. No stacking required"? Does stacking mean maybe that it's already seasoned long enough so you don't need to stack it to dry it out further???

A vacuum cleaner is supposed to do just that: clean! And that’s what my old vacuum wasn’t doing. And it was so
heavy! Recently I read about Dyson Vacuum Cleaner in a site (http://www.dysonvaccumcleanerreview.com ). Is it
really lighter than the one which are there in the market. Doesn’t it have a bag to dispose like in other
conventional models?

My electric heater smells very bad; like someone spilled marijuana or chemicals in it. In the summer it does not produce these fumes when I use the ac but the heater causes whatever is in there to burn and my smoke alarm goes off. I complained about last year but all they did was clean out this filter. This year they will not replace the unit and so I am forced to use space heaters again. I had two space heaters but my small one now smokes therefore setting off the smoke alarm. I have one heater to heat to seperate areas. My studio is about 450 sq feet with about 150 sq feet for the bedroom area. My bedroom is very long and narrow. How Can I safely heat the bedroom will I sleep. I live in a basement apartment which helps hold in some heat but I wake up to being 63 degrees when it is 30 degrees outside. What does anyone suggest? I have to bear through this winter again and once my lease is up I am moving!

Growing up in the 1970s and 1980s, my family always had an electric can opener and it seemed that everyone else did as well. Today, however, it seems as if electric can openers are quite rare. My wife and I don't have one. Neither my parents nor any of the friends whose homes I've visited lately contain one. The nearby Target, which carries 20 models of every other small electric, had only two electric can openers last I checked. Obviously, it seems like a larger percentage of food comes in plastic packages or pull top cans. But, while I'd assume that there have been some advances in plastic packaging, pull tops existed in the 1970s too. Any ideas?
