Is something blowing out from wherever the heat takes the air from? Is it dust or mold or some fungus I am getting sick to? I wake up with urge to cough and stuff comes up but I can only swallow it-yuck. I don't have a runny nose nor a sore throat. I just keep coughing up mucus. Why! I don't think I am infected with a virus or bacteria at all. Could some allergen be blowing out?

Sounds like you may have some dust or even mold somewhere in your system. Dust and mold can hold different types of micro-organisms that can cause allergies. You may want to check your filters. If they are dirty or haven't been changed in awhile, change them out with a new one. This is fairly inexpensive. You may also want to look into the cleanliness of your ductwork. Dust and mold can build up in spaces you can't see so you may want to look into having them cleaned. Mold can also develop if any moisture gets into your system. You may also want to try spraying some Lysol disinfectant spray. It kills alot of household germs in the air.

The same air ducts carry the heated air as the cool air-conditioned air. So it's doubtful that just because the heat is now on your getting this. However, You could have allergens, dust, mold, etc... in the duct work. Check the filter that is in your heater. Most likely you need a new one. Some types can be cleaned. You can also have your duct work cleaned. There are companies that do duct cleaning.

It's possible that all those things are happening at your house.
But more likely, it's because the air is too dry and when you breate it in, it irritates your sinus lining.
If the "wherever the heat comes from" in your house is on the floor (or floor registers), you could place a pan of water on it and allow it to evaporate into the air.
It'll help, but probably won't cure it.
They do sell whole-house humidifiers though.

Yep. The furnace needs to be vacuumed out and the filters changed every fall.

You're getting a bazillion dust mites, mold spores, and who-knows-what blowing out of the vents.
