Everyone seems to love hummingbirds around their garden except me. They buzz all around my Lillies and destroy them.

I feel like poisoning them.

I found a small leafy plant discarded in a trash can at work. It still looked mostly healthy, so I trimmed off the dead parts and decided to keep it. The plant had a plastic container with holes on the bottom for water to drain.

My question is, will it hurt the plant to put it in a ceramic coffee cup? My concern is drainage. I am not sure if the roots will be harmed due to the water sitting down there since there are no holes at the bottom. The plant had its own potting soil so I just moved all of that, along with the plant, into the cup.

I don't know what species the plant is. The leaves are long, thin, and pointed, with pale streaks interspersed with the green.

Thanks for your help.

I have sprouted an Avocado tree from seed in water. It is about 17 inches tall with six leaves on top and lots of buds on the stem.
I want to transplant it into soil and I need to know if I should prune it before or after I do that? Also wondering how much I should take off?

I want to use it between raised beds to walk on and reduce mud from forming after watering?

Any thoughts? I guess I am assuming a 2-3 inch depth of the gravel? And the gravel size is between 3/4 and 3/8 inch.

Thanks!

I laid some new turf in the summer and the foxes had a field day digging it up. I am just about to get my lawn re-turfed and want to deter the foxes digging it up again. Any ideas or product recommendations would be much appreciated

through the winter in pots? Have any of you done this? If so, should the pots be much larger than the plants, what about winter care? I doubt they need watering in the winter. I live in Massachusetts, temp between 15F below to 55F above during winter months.
