Cats, neighbours using my garden as a toilet?

Can anyone suggest a tried and test solution, have tried lots of things already but nothing seems to work long term.

Try keeping a big Cross if your neighbour is a Christian. Also, bring a big dog to urinate all over to avoid cats coming in. You may also keep a bright light in the night and a dummy camera so that human beings stop using the area.

You can use any kind of dried, finely ground/crushed peppers. Cat's typically sniff and scratch around their "dumping" grounds and the pepper dust will not harm them, but will deter them from playing in your garden. Downside is that you have to be careful to keep it out of your eyes and nose while spreading it around!!! And depending on how big your garden is, it may take a LOT! I had the same problem in a flower bed, luckily not a large one. The pepper dust worked fantastic!

Cats are simple enough to deal with, but it's the neighbors using your garden as a toilet, that i'd be worried about.
Maybee if you take pictures of them as they are soiling your garden. Then post the pictures around the neighborhood or on the internet.

Moth Balls. Buy a box of moth balls and place them all around the area that the cats are scratching. By doing this you are blocking their scent. Cats are territorial. They have marked their spot. The moth balls have such a strong smell that they over power the cats smell. This works extremely well. I have them all over my garden and flower beds. It will confuse them. They will scratch once and then leave. And for pennies, you have solved the problem. And no arguments with the neighbours.

several good ways to deter cats. If legal in your area kill it. Get a live catch box trap and catch it and turn it over to your local aniamal control or just call animal control, They will start with issuing warnings to the cat owner, then will start issuing fines in many areas, Get a cheqp live catch trap and make Animal controls life easier and turn the nuisance cat over to them. Your neighbor will get sick of bailing the cat out eventually and either confine it themselves or leave with AC.
Other ways A electric fence 8-10 inches off the ground is very effective and also deters dogs and raccoons. A super soaker water gun plut its fun to hunt the cat and totally soak it down. Fence your yard in and install a dog. BB gun, airsoft gun, also non lethal and annoying to the cat.

I don't think there is one...cat's are free to roam anywhere they like, unlike dogs...You could always do what my neighbours (cruelly) have done to my cat and throw stones at it when it's in their garden....Myself i'd suggest a water pistol, the cat will get the message and it won't harm it at all...

You can get things that make a very high frequency noise, higher than the human ear can register but very annoying to cars.

Another thing my dad does which works reall well, is to out his pee round the garden - yuk!

In the south we use moth balls - Boiling water and dissolve them. Pour this along the front of your home. Unfortunately it stinks for a bit, but it'll work round the clock and won't harm your plants. This will also keep snakes away.
