Im getting hardwood floors in my bedroom instead of carpet. is this a good or bad idea? i love the feel of carpet but with 2 pets and my messy habbits i get so many stains in it. wood is pretty, cool at night (which i like), and easy to clean but carpet is soft, warm during the day, and more fit for the bedroom. i already paid for the wood. was that a bad idea?

The table has rust, black, and gray slate tiles on top. I thought black and brown/rust did not match together. However, the designer of the table thinks it does. The table is a contemporary casual piece.

We have taken out the carpet to find yellowish orange glue. It makes the surface of the concrete rough. The floor seeps when the air conditioner is off. We live on the central west coast of Florida. I have 2 large dogs, and 2 teenage boys. It's impossible to keep carpet clean, so I have choosen to paint the concrete to look like tile to match the rest of the house. We are having difficulty getting the glue up. We are beginners at home improvement and our budget is limited. We are using a adhesive remover but it doesn't seem to be working, the floor is still orange. Is this stained from the glue? How do we get the surface of the floor smooth?

I'd like to install exterior cedar shingles to the exterior of my ranch style home. I currently have wood siding on the front and stucco on the sides and rear. I would like to shingle the whole house: how? Where do I buy them and do they have them that last forever with no maintenance? Thanks, DM in California.

I've seen them several times. The kind that you light and then they take flight? Made out of paper bags and candles I think, but if you know how it's done, I'd love to know!

I have a real twin size canopy bed, but cannot find a top for it. I am not looking for the type of canopy that hangs from ceiling, but a top for a framed canopy bed. I have tried ebay and found only lots of the "freestyle" type.

I know it's not very cool, but I prefer cotton/polyester bed sheets to all cotton. Only problem--the blends all seem to be inexpensive sheets in boring solid colors or timid floral patterns. Do any of the high end linen manufacturers make sheets in cotton/poly?
