Give another coat or two! Polyfilla absorbs paint at a different rate than plaster, hence the patchy look! Put the paint on heavier as well...the tendency is to paint with a roller and try and bleed every last drop out of the roller before loading it up again. Keep it well loaded and don't try to spread it out to far!

Re sand the crack areas and repaint
OR paint a mural over it like a rock wall to hide the problem then the will look like they were on purpose Just tape off the wall to look like cement blocks Get Grey white and black paint from home depot then do a knights theme. Go and buy 60 style knights heads at your local thrifts paint them black and hang them On the taped part which is suppose to look like cement do this very light Grey then on the blocks take dark Grey with a plastic bag dipping in to the paint(((( just barely)))) dabbing it off on paper then applying to wall then go over again and use lighter Grey then barley here and there on some blocks just a hint of black .I am currently doing one just like this in my bedroom gives it a very ruff look which is needed here.To make it look like real Wall I am only going half way up on my wall and only on 3 walls 2 being partial walls . Get paint mis matched from home depot.5.00 bucks a gal .

i no that wall paper seems really old fashioned but thet is some really good ones out there you just need to look. If you go to a big decorating store they have books full of them n u just skip thru pik the one u like and then the walls shall look smooth and patch-free!!

You can get wallpaper that you can put up then paint over that wouldclear the majority of it up how ever if the walls are really bad you will probably benefit by having them re-plastered.

Try using polycell base coat. You can get it in most DIY or hardware stores. Its also great for covering fined cracks and lines.

i recommend you consider applying a faux finish to your walls! there are many examples you can see and learn how to apply at home depot, menards etc. not only will you camoflauge the wall's imperfections, you will have a rich classy finish to boot!

start over and paint them first with latex kilz, this will cover the patches, then you can paint with color, of course none of this will work unless your patches are smooth
