Hi.

There are many different wicks to choose from. It depends on the wax, the container, additives, etc. You can use old candles, re-melt and create new candles, but you can also just buy wax.

If you want to make candles there are so many good sites to choose from:

You can actually take a free online course in candle making here:

http://artisanschool.com/courses/

Candle Making Techniques has very good explanations and pictures of different subjects, especially the basics stuff:

A VERY easy way to start is buying a starting kit. They come with everything (including was, wicks, dye, fragrance, etc.), and you can make "real" candles by using them. Check online or just browse your local craft shop.

And for all sorts of daily ideas, projects, news, tips and more candle making related information, you can visit my candle making blog:

And - the most important thing - don't forget to have fun too :-) Good luck!

You can get what you need in a crafts store. I am fairly sure someone there can help you.
For the wax you can always use paraffin wax or bees wax and then buy the wick.
The bees wax comes in sheets of honey comb that you wrap around the wick.

if you don't have a kit you'll need a double boiler, wicks and any fragrance you choose. I place the wax top part of boiler water in bottom, :) low to med heat, (watch carefully as wax that becomes to hot will set off every smoke detector in your house), add fragrance according to directions, place wick in mold and pour wax (carefully) hot wax = bad burns. cool to harden state and enjoy...
