The tap beside the stove for easy filling of pots seems to be in, this is coupled with a drain beside the stove. More lighting, wider doors, ensuites, and more kitchen cabinets all are required by our aging population. It is trendy to have a whole section of kitchen wall just cabinets and then have a centre island to work on. If you have popcorn ceilings the trend now is to remove them. No central a/c or the furnace is a little tired think about installing a heat pump. If you are thinking of carpet go for area rugs rather than wall-to-wall. People are now worried about allergens so popcorn ceilings and carpet is out. Thinking about a central vac? great idea.

You should really check out space X door they are awesome I have them in 2 of my bed rooms and wish I had more. what they are is a book case that covers your closets and moves in and out. I have had mine over 8 years and they are awesome don't know what I did before without the extra space.
Check it out here's the site if you or your husband is even somewhat able to do carpentry you can save a bundle on the install . Gives you tons more storage.

cement counter tops are becoming popular ideas,and i like the sunlights that can be installed very easily after all other work is finished,they can be found in a bunch of sizes
