We have seen solid granite and granite w/acrylic blend sinks in stores. The prices seem to be a bit more for solid granite, but not too bad.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of granite sinks vs the normal stainless steel ones?

I recently purchased my first home and did a large remodel on it, including new tile flooring. I have looked at the various products for sealing grout that require repeated application every year (or few years). I tried one of these that supposedly is one of the best products for this that lasts several years, and only 6mos later, I am having to be on my knees scrubbing the grout.

There has to be a better way?

Isn't there a way to permanently seal the grout such that dirt can be wiped away (such as with a mop) and where dirt won't get stuck in the grains of sand in the grout?
I was even thinking of getting a clear silicon caulk or some product like this and caulking every single grout joint. (of course I would clean it well first)

Can someone PLEASE help me find a better way?!!

Hi all

I'd like to get a set of five paintbrushes for interior decorating. I don't want to break the bank, but would like something that is of reasonable quality to give me a good finish, and that is worth looking after and keeping for a while

Can anyone suggest a brand that is worth looking at?

Thanks
Matt

My husband and I just bought our first home. It is a fixer-uper in need of a lot of "little" things. I will have many questions - but this one applies to wood paneling covering most of the walls of the house.
The upstairs has wood paneling painted a glossy white. We initally wanted to pull it all off - but after removing one panel and seeing the horrid condition of the walls beneath it - we have decided we must try something different.

Ideally I would like to find away to smooth out the walls so they no longer appear to be wood panels. I would like to paint the rooms and apply some borders I have picked for my daughters.

The dining room also has unpainted wod paneling in a smooth greeninsh color. Yuck.

What is the best way to deal with these panels? The painted ones? The un-painted? Can anyone recommend methods and/or books to guide us?

I am in the process of trying to figure out my kitchen and breakfast nook remodel for my home. I have decided on a French Country look for the kitchen.....based upon some great Waverly sunflower fabric.....with a cornflower blue background.....and hints of greens and reds with the of course yellow sunflowers........i am thinking of painting the kitchen walls a buttery yellow.....and the cabinets possibly a sand or blue color.......i have run into a dilemma with my attached breakfast nook.........the room is wall to wall wood paneling.....not the cheap stuff.......but still wood paneling.....any suggestions as to colors i should use....and also how to handle the wood paneling.......paint it, pickle it, or leave it?

thanks for the help!

It's such an odd size that it would require a custom install for another enclosure or to have it ripped out and tiled. Hoping that there is a tile adhesive or somthing that I can do to make it more attractive. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks

A lot of people I know have these dining rooms that they never use. They look stuffy, like if you moved one little thing, lights would start flashing and the alarm would go off. Why do people have these? I would understand better if they were of use, but these are not. They have a dining room they do use, and then they have the stuffy looking one. I guess they feel like they have to put it there, or they would have an extra room, but whatever.
