Sound deadening.

Also, something to look at when at the dentist's office.

Textures For Ceilings

The main reason why they texture ceilings is to cover up the imperfections when drywalling. It is especially a good idea to do this if you have a light in the ceiling that spreads the light across the ceiling because light being spread across the cieling will show the imperfections more. That's partly why you see more recessed spotlights in houses now. The recessed spotlights don't show the imperfections nearly as much because they keep light from shining across the ceiling. That's also why they tend to texture walls now too. It is also used for decoration to a certain degree too due to the different kind of texture patterns you can use.

Basically, it is easier, faster, and lest costly to spray on texture to a ceiling than to attempt to get rid of all the imperfections.

Texture is used as a decorative procedure in newer homes and remodels. I do it all the time. It can also be used to cover up a defective ceiling (older home?) without replacing the drywall also...that depends on the situation. Typically you don't have to fine sand with texture then if you wanted a "smooth" surface (which requires alot of sanding). There are many types of textures which can be applied with a texture gun or by hand troweling. The "popcorn" texture sprayed on ceilings was popular during the 70/80's period but is not used in many new/remodeled homes nowadays. Where i live I use a air texture gun and spray watered down joint compound on walls and ceilings , then I drag my drywall knife over it to "knock it down" People really like it!

You guys must have to much time on your hands. Don't just lay there, just do it, then contemplate on having a baby. It's the best subject ever. Tell you the truth, the texturing is to conceal all the flaws that life will throw at you. Life is all but a dream. Dream Well.
Cherish your girlfriend. Time Flies. Flies have short lives, but do you ever hear them complain?

Easier to spray on the texture than to hand finish all the sheetrock seams over your head! :)

It covers up crummy drywall installation. Ever noticed how well-crafted spaces have walls that are floated smooth?
