Anything that is already on the window is going to show through as a silhouette when light (sunshine) comes through.

I've seen those stained-glass films in Home Depot, and they are really nice, but, they won't "hide" the white grid pattern, only mask it some of the time. Is the white grid painted on? Or pieces of wood? If at all possible, I would try to remove the white grid pattern first.

No it won't The grid will always show through.If you want the grid to show, why don't you put on the film and cut around the grid with an exato knife? You can then pull off the film that covers the grid.

a little bit, but the film is translucent and the grids will show through somewhat
