Well, I'm renting a house... my husband is military so we will only be living here 2-3 years, so I wasnt too worried about the details in the house... but now that I've moved in, I'm discusted with the bathroom... So I really need decorating ideas to try and make it seem more at home, but I cant do anything drastic since I'm only renting.

First of all, the bathroom is nothing but tile, this means I cant paint. The tiles are different shades of pink and off-white. There are his and her sinks, but the counter top is BLUE! yuck! The toilet tank is the same pink color as most of the tiles but the seat part is off-white... One of the walls is nothing but cabinets (from ceiling to floor) that are wood painted off-white.... WHAT CAN I DO???

I am planning to put a valance on our big dining room window. I need something for privacy, though, since it faces our neighbor's house. Will sheers work under a valance or would you suggest something else. I currently have those cheap horizontal blinds that are about $10 and would like to have window treatments that are somewhat nicer. I haven't bought anything yet, so if you want to suggest something other than valances for the dining room, I am open to suggestions. Thanks.

I have big chunks bitten out of all the leaves on my rose bush and some of the roses as well. I have seen a couple of big green crickets on them and it seems a shame to kill them. Is it them that are eating the rose bush and does anyone know of any natural deterrent if so?

The neighbors on the other side told her that everyone pays for the entire north fence in their yard. So that left them paying nothing & her expecting me to pay for 100% of the side that I was expecting to pay 50% of. When she informed me of this "rule" I kind of hemmed & hawed instead of committing but I want to be fair. I think she got ripped off by the other neighbors though.

This is a 6 year old craftsman electric law mower. Worked great until this summer when it started to stop and run periodically (every few minutes). The stop last only 1 minute or less. What's wrong with it? How can get it fixed by myself? Thanks a lot.

I'm excited I've had multiple offers on my house for sale. I've never been thru this, and was told most houses are on the market here avg. 90 days. I got 3 offers in less than a week! It's a cute little house in a good location.

It's under contract, and the inspector should come this week.
I'm worried about 2 things:
There's wood rot at the bottom of the walk in garage door.
The repairman said he'd cut the wood up to the 'good' part and replace it,, use some sort of filler for cracks - what do they use in case I found someone to do it cheaper? - and paint it.
He's charging $250;seems like a lot.

Is this acceptable to an inspector? Will he notice, and will he object that it's been done this way- the whole doorframe wasn't changed?

Also, I have a handful of shingles missing on the roof. It's a good roof otherwise. There is one corner a roofer told me was soft a yr ago. My neighbors fir tree dripped on it. We cut it down right away. Does that dry out or stay soft?

Thanks

i have a compact fridge by frigidaire that stands about 4 feet tall and 2 feet wide. the freezer is seperate and on top, just like a normal fridge...but lately, it has not been getting very cold. this has happened before, and when i left it unplugged for a while then plugged it back up, it began working just fine. so i'm wondering if it has anything to do with the freezer being too full and/or the vent in there being blocked?? i don't wanna unplug the fridge cuz i have some food in there; so if it's the freezer being too full, do i just need to take some stuff out for the fridge part to get cold?? does anyone know what's causing this?? thanks in advance!
