What kind of covering (shades, curtains) looks best? Sheers on the glass part? Blinds? One big cover to cover everything?

First consider the amount of privacy you would require. Then consider the style of the other window treatments in your home. Sheers, blinds, and draperies are all great ideas, just make sure it's cohesive with the rest of your home.

1] how much light is provided?
2] how much privacy is needed?
3] any other windows in the room?
4] do people actually use the doors to go in/out?
Consider a valence across the tops of the doors, that matches other windows; with sheers over the glass part. You will still be able to look out, and admire the windows as well.

Why not use some woven bamboo roll up shades; They are inexpensive; you can roll them up if needed; and they are nice looking in any setting.
