there was an old Indesit dishwasher in my house when I bought it. It is at least 5 years old as the 5 year guarantee ran out last month. The problem is, the timer doesn't seem to work. It has a dial with four settings, but unless you manually move it on, it sticks at certain points. Once, it kept churning away for a whole weekend. Very inconvenient. So I assume there's something wrong with the timer. My question is, do I take the risk of paying for an engineer to come and look at it and tell me I need a new timer which will doubtless be expensive, or just buy a new one for £200, and ditch the old one. I am trying to take into account the environment too!

Any tips would help; I'm starting to think it's a lost cause. I tend to go through more clothes than I should because of my ineptitude at laundry...I know it's not rocket science, but I tend to be the first person to ruin laundry.

I would like to take jobs as a gardening or landscaping consultant, working with homeowners as clients. I do not want to take measurements/draw landscape plans. That takes too much time outside of the meeting/appointment. I feel many people just want to pick my brain and ask questions anyway. But I feel I need to leave them with something, written notes, a list of plants, etc. I want them to feel they got their money's worth. What would comprise a good product? I'd like to make up a form or sheet to use.

I am building a table out of pine. I want to cover the top with a more exotic wood layer. I need this layer to be very thin (like 4mm). Is this a "veneer" and is there anywhere that sells such thin layers or must I plane down an existing one?

Can you recomment any suppliers of exotic wood like this in the UK or USA?

How can I cover a wooden desk top with leather? Are there any special folding techniques etc that I need to know? Also, are there any natural (and zero VOC) alternatives to synthetic adhesive for this purpose?

Finally, does anyone know how/where to buy low-grade leather in large quantities for this purpose? The only leather I have found thus far has been in clothing ... I need it in sheet form.

Thanks.

I asked this here:

I typed it wrong. I am not covering the wall with wire. I am covering it with mirror and was concerned about hitting electrical wires in the wall when screwing the mirrors in.

I basically want to cover the whole wall with mirrors and they must be securely fastened because I cannot have glass falling down from the top of the wall onto the floor (or people!). That is why I am thinking of nailing rather than screwing.

What is the best way to do this? I don't suppose there is any mirror wallpaper that is as reflective as real glass?

I have an open plan kitchen/living/dining room and would like to hang two chandeliers of the same color. Which color do you think would look best from the list above? The floor is terra cotta tiles, the cabinets are white, the countertops are black/white/grey speckled granite, the walls are light beige, the door handels are chrome, and the ceiling and exposed beams are white. The furniture is mostly white, or dk.brown leather. The house is in the country with a slight Provencal feel, so it is not modern, but it is brand new.

Yesturday I found a praying mantis on my front porch, I didn't think much about it. It was still there this morning. I just went outside and found three more......four. I looked on the back porch and the were two. Is this because of mating season or what? They are everywhere, and I have to admit, they kinda freak me out.

We have a coconut palm, a passionfruit vine, a mango tree, a pawpaw (papaya) tree, a black mulberry tree, a kumquat tree, an orange tree and of course vegetables in the garden (broccoli, rhubarb, strawberries, tomatoes, green beans and aloe vera). Hehe, I'd be really interested to find out what you all have!

I have some shirts that I workout in and they work great to wick away the moisture, but after I wash them and put them on, as soon as my body temperture starts to warm up, they smell....bacteria I think caught up in the material. I have tried hot water in the laundry but to no success. Any hints?

I was in British Columbia, with Cadets and we were out doing this camping thing and I saw these things that look like grasshoppers with big stingers. I remember driving by Ocanogan lake on the way there, and these things were like 10x the size of most grass hoppers. I havent been able to find them anywhere on the internet so if anyone knows tell me. If you need more info I might be able to add more to this.
