It is mating season for the Mantis. We've got 5 out by a small fish pond that range from 2-5 inches long! They are very interesting to watch - our kids and their friends will stand and watch them catch insects for half an hour at a time. If you find a strange looking "growth" on plants, outdoor furniture or fences, do not disturb! New Mantis' will hatch out in the spring. The one problem of Mantis over say Lady Bugs, is that they will eat beneficial insects as well as those that are destructive to plants. They will take on wasps and yellow jackets (yay!!)

Sounds like a batch has recently hatched & need to find their bearings ,leave well alone they will soon move out in search of food ,don't go by looks alone ,even if their appearace is not appealing ,they play a very helpful role around the garden .In time some may move out while others might make your garden their home, which is a good thing .

You should thank the gods, praying mantis are good friends to have around. Don't be frightened they are not harmful just funky looking, but very beneficial especially if you have a garden. Lucky you.

Dear Lord and father i want to thank you for your many blessings. thank you Lord for making a way when there seem to be no way. Father as i come to you now in the name of Jesus Christ i pray that you will grant me this one request. I ask Father that you will touch the life of Max Gilpin. Father you know what he is going through right now and what can be done to make him well again. I pray that you will send divine healing to him. Touch his mind body and soul and bring him peace just now. Give him the strength to look to you at this time as the author and finisher of his faith. I know Lord that if he puts his trust in you then all will work together for his good. Cover him under you shadows now and speak peace to this situation in the name of Jesus i pray. Amen Love and Blessings † Dvoted2Jesus Prayer Warrior †

Yes, it is the time of year they are very active. They are one of the most benificial insects to have around. This time of year they are mating and leaving their egg sacks around to hatch next year. They are absolutly harmless. I pick them up and move them out of harms way occasionally.

First, let me say that I am terrified of them! Second, yes this is mating season. You are lucky to have so many in your yard ... I have only seen one in my yard all summer. Try to let them do their job and hope that they mate well. They will protect your garden next year.

if you happen to live in Conn., they are protected by law (state insect)..... and in some parts of the world, they are so valuable as predators of nasty bugs, that they are also protected in that instance.... but normally, they're not... however.... if they are large , as in as big as one of your fingers is long, then they're doing their bug catching job and you should just leave them be..... remember "Everybody's gotta live SOMEWHERE!!".... and the fact that they're in your area means you're garden has stuff in it that needs removed!!!.... keep the mantisesesesesessssssss.... *smile*..
