Sumatra has tropical climate with rainy and dry seasons. The landscape vary from coastal, swamp, hilly and has a number of volcanoes, great rivers, as well as fertile soil. The main crops are palms, coconuts, rice and some tropical fruits. Land resources provide cement, coal, oil, iron, copper, gold, diamond, bauxite, gas, silver and so on.
