Is the heating element broken? Is it the thermostat? I don't want to pay to have someone come check it out. Any help is appreciated. No dumb answers please.

I am looking at a house that has central heat, but no central air. If a house already has central heat, does that typically make it easier to install central air?

I would like some advice as to what to do about my lawn so that it looks good in the spring. Right now the lawn has a lot of weeds and some bare spots. Basically, I need to grow new grass, feed what's already there and prevent weeds in the spring but I don't know when and what I should apply to do this. Please don't recommend a lawn care company. I am not looking for the perfect lawn but I know there are things I could be doing to improve it. I have a spreader and I'm all ready to get to work. Thanks for your help!

I found what I thought was a spider, but it may be a tick. It was the strangest thing I've seen as far as that type of insect goes. It was black, about the size of an eraser tip, sort of flat, a little oval, it has spidery looking legs, but the top of it was flat and lemon yellow, it actually looked like a piece of lemon peel, it also had spikes along the edge of it's yellow top, almost like a crown. Does anyone have any idea what kind of insect this was?

We have had them in our house for months, and cannot have them removed commercially as it would cost vast amounts of money we just don't have.

I have contracted a painter to paint the exterior of my house. He has no insurance, but has agreed to sign a release to not hold me responsible for any injury he incurs in the job. How should the release be worded? I have homeowners insurance. Is there anything else I have not considered?

The stopper in my bathroom sink is not working, so I removed it. Today, I dropped eyeliner down the drain, and I can't get it out. Any ideas on how to get it out? If I can't get it out, will it hurt anything being there?

Thanks,
Andrea

I am a professional finisher and am looking for a product that will go on over nitrocellulose lacquer and will adhere without the fisheye and orange peel effects I usually get. At this point, I figure you have to strip off the lacquer. Anybody out there know of a product that I can try out on something that's wrecked anyway? I don't want to buy a whole lot to start with. If you're a chemist, this would be a good product to develop if there isn't onw already.

I have 3 identical house plants which I bought a couple of weeks ago. I just lifted the pots up from the trays to water them and found miniscule white insects that looked like skinny maggots but much smaller... maybe 1mm in legth.

Does anyone know what they are and whether this is normal?
