trickle irrigation is planned watering specific to plant needs. Water is timed and calculated for volume based on the amount of water needed for a particular plant species. the technique uses emitters of certain volume capacities that let a small volume of water flow directly onto the soil, minimizing water loss due to evaporation and run-off.

this type of irrigation is used a great deal in the west where water supplies are tight and expensive.

is that what you needed?
