If it's for laundry, it's your choice. If it's to make icecube, drinking water,, popsicles, then have your water tested first. There usually chlorine in water where ever you live. I wonder if you have a problem with the piping in your house, which is a different problem but the water test will reveal that too. Meanwhile, if you don't trust your water boil a lot at once and let it cool, you'll see if there is particules in the bottom of the pot. Nevertheless, use a filter to pour your water in clean jars. It is what is used to remove ecoli from water. A friend of mine had to pour it down his well to do so, then flush out the system. There's small amounts of chlorine in city drinking water from their processing and it is safe. I don't know what the ratio is to the amount of water but you may be able to find it on the web.

No, just boil the water. Unless you're trying to kill yourself, you wouldn't drink bleach water.

that is what bleach is made for!! do you wish to drink the water? boil it and then let it cool. but don't put the bleach in drinking water. Only put it in water to clean with.
