Well, I'm renting a house... my husband is military so we will only be living here 2-3 years, so I wasnt too worried about the details in the house... but now that I've moved in, I'm discusted with the bathroom... So I really need decorating ideas to try and make it seem more at home, but I cant do anything drastic since I'm only renting.

First of all, the bathroom is nothing but tile, this means I cant paint. The tiles are different shades of pink and off-white. There are his and her sinks, but the counter top is BLUE! yuck! The toilet tank is the same pink color as most of the tiles but the seat part is off-white... One of the walls is nothing but cabinets (from ceiling to floor) that are wood painted off-white.... WHAT CAN I DO???

For the tile, I'd go to Walmart or somewhere like that and get the adhesive tile decor's.
They have all kinds of different things... kitchen / bathroom etc. Some pretty cool things... floral, cartoon, symbols.. all kinds of stuff.. they are pretty cheap, and you can just pull them back off when you're ready to move.

I'd paint the wood cabinets.. they are already painted.. so do a nice neutral colour, or something you can paint over when you're ready to move.

Get a nice shower curtain, nice floor mats & toilet covers.
You can get a new toilet seat pretty cheap too.

Stick up some pictures with double sided adhesive on the walls rather than nails.

Spice it up with nice towels etc that will match with all the colours.

Good Luck

You can paint your tiles. Go to Doityourself.com under ceramic tile painting and it will take you step by step. You will note that they recommend only a pro paint tiles in a tub surround that contantly get wet but you can paint the rest of the bath yourself. I would try to do as much in a white or off-white as possible. Since you are renting, you can't really change the countertop or the toilet tank so try to work around it by playing into it a bit with your shower curtain and accessories. Things become less noticeable if you play into the color instead of trying to find ways to hide it.

Eeeeew! You really gotta wonder, "What kind of crack pot designed that bathroom?" Gross. Well, you could hang those bamboo beaded doorway things on the walls. That will cover the walls at least. You remember those beaded doorway things? They have bamboo ones that are less tacky. They only require a couple nails up at the top, so no painting. As for the counter, you could cut those plastic placemats that don't slide and use those to cover it...

Really,if you are renting, you either have to live with it or approach the landlord and tell them what you want to do. At the worst, tell them you want to make everything white. They will probably agree. They do make tile paint. I would rather have a boring white bathroom than a pink, off-white and blue bathroom.

Since you are renting, go to Walmart or somewhere like that and buy a shower curtain that incorporates all of the colors - I personally have a Nick and Nora shower curtain that has bathroom pigs on it, my little ones love it. Work with what's there, get a bathroom rug and curtain for the window in the same matching color, in another color in the shower curtain, yellow or green would be good choices, you could go with an ocean motif, or even country floral, hang a plant in there and if you don't have built-ins, buy a toothbrush holder and tissue box, soap dispenser in whatever appeals to you along those lines, get a matching waste paper basket, too. You pretty much have to buy all these things anyway, and its a relatively inexpensive way, to make the best of it. You may actually turn out to like the pink white and blue. Have fun with color.

Explain to your landlord what you'd like to do to change the bathroom; maybe he/she will agree and buy the supplies. I used to be an apartment complex manager, and it was actually really great when a tenant wanted to improve the apartments (heck...what's easier than them doing the work??)

If you can't change anything permanently, try hanging fabric to cover the walls. Or dip it in liquid starch and put it on the walls like wallpaper. When you move, you can just peel it off and wipe up the dried starch residue. (And you can wash & reuse the fabric).

Like the above responder said, work WITH the colors, find a nice complimentary color for accent pieces.

You know there used to be a show on Discovery...Christopher lowell. He had some great ideas for cheap decorating, check your library for his books. There might be something there for ways to hide what you don't like.

Good luck!

Change the countertop to off white or tan. A lot of people are using pinks with tans and browns. If you do it yourself you will spend around 150$. Then you can use a tan toilet seat with pink flowers or a wooden toilet seat. If at all possible, sand the wooden cabinets to their original color and poly.

This could be beautiful.

i've got those days adorned my bathing room. there have been some grotty white tiles which I painted diminished cream . I positioned a showering room wallpaper on one wall and a cream paint on the different partitions. I glossed around the doorways in a diminished jade and tarted all of it up with some small silver mirror tiles above the wash basin and a creamy, turquoisey, fishy border around 3 partitions. Tile paint - Wilkinsons Wallpaper - cream with words on like 'bubbles', 'soothe' & 'water' - homestead Base Border - Homebase Gloss- wasn't gloss - it grew to become into 'satin wood' - Wilkinsons different partitions - Vinyl Silk in united states of america Cream - Wilkisons Stick-on mirror tiles - Ace (loads of paint left over , so I used some interior the john & kitchen as properly) I then in simple terms dealt with myself to a sparkling mat and 2 towels in deep jade - ASDA EDIT- in simple terms bought a turquoise bathe curtain, lower back with issues on it like faucets & a bath and words e.g. H2O-Wilkinsons lower back !

Easiest thing: Paint everything. Every thing you just said can be painted. Some need different types of paints, but it can be done, and it is a lot easier than replacing it all.
