I used to work in a hardware store and I know that most of those tool sets you can buy have a ton of things you don't need along with the things you do need. I want to buy my hubby a really nice tool set with good quality tools... but I don't want all that extra stuff... like the tape measure, hammer, screwdrivers... ect, I already have those things. Where can I find something like that? Or do I just have to buy individual items?

So far I've painted the room a neutral tan color with an accents wall in terracotta (dark orange)...Ideally I would like a bed or sofa to go agaist that wall. I'm not sure what type of furniture and accessories I should purchase to make it look very ethnic yet classy for our guests.

I bought a house 3 years ago with this old, ugly cast iron security bars over the windows. They are screwed in by these screws that are designed to not turn counter-clockwise as the edges of the slot where the screwdriver would push is filed off. How do I get them off?

Two days ago I installed a new phone jack in my office. Everything was working fine before I did this. After I did it I lost all phone jacks except that DSL works at all of them. Just no dial tone even at the new one. I thought maybe it was the service issue so I checked it outside and I have a tone there. The cable checked out good so I dont understand what is causing this. Any ideas would be great for troubleshooting this. All you here on the phone is a low hum if anything.

I have a lot of roses but noticed yesterday that one that is alone, in the back, has little holes all over the leaves. They look exactly like someone took a hole puncher and punched holes in them. Any idea what kind of insect is doing this to my rose bush?

there are few things around the house i am willing to pay someone to do ,i have lots to do but need first things first -
a roof it has only one layer ,i have one bid of 8k, just for the house which is 2000k sq. ft. not sure how much more for the garage and this does not included gutters.i was also told that i would save about 2k if i removed the old roof .

exterior painting which i have gotten bids from 4k to 25k,and
it will cost 1k more to do the garage and about 1-2k in repairs such as patching where i took out an old screen door, nothing major.

what do i need to ask for, what is a good base price for
these jobs,do i have to hire experts .

it really gets me when they say oh the garage too and look
at me and seem to not know why- i hate that .am i really saying something wrong. plus it puts off the bid they have to refigure things which is about another week of waiting.

I just got a Charcoal Grill, and a Chimney starter from Weber. Because of how the grill I have works, the chimney starter will smoke up the thermometer on the grill cover. I grill on my brick patio at the back of my house. I am thinking, I could just light the chimney starter on the patio, but I figure it'll probably discolor the bricks from the heat? I was thnking about buying a few bricks from the local garden store and lighting the chimney on top of those so they can take all of the heat for 15 minutes before I pour them into the grill. Is this safe? The bricks can handle this heat?

This radiator is only about a inch away from the wall and an inch off the floor, added to the fact that there a windowsill overhanging it above. Over the years, small books, papers and other "junk" had fallen behind it and I can't get my hand in back of there to clean it out. Any ideas what to do? Thanks in advance.

So I tried to clean up my friends iron, that had this big dark stain on it, it I suceded... a little... but now it is scratced and I can see copper (little red) color layer where used to be the stain. The iron surface is grey in general. Is it safe to iron with that (I mean manufactorrs can blend al sorts of substances together, can I be sure that with heat any harmuful mircoscopic things won´t get out of there, and any metal fractions won´t get to the fabric, cos I am allergic to some of metal things) or should I buy a new be bought? Dont really wanna buy a new one, if not necessary! I´m thankful for advise!

I have a hot and cold fill washing machine, just noticed that the hot water pipe does not appear to feel hot even though I have had the emersion on to get the water pre-heated.

The connections are on totally and not kinked, I have tried turning off the cold taps for the machine, and all I can hear is a faint noise as though the hot is not getting through peoperly.

Do I need to open the connection to the machine for the hot and see if it's an air pocket problem?

Servis Machine recently has had a new drain pump fitted.

My mom is gonna try and sell our house. She is about to put it on the market and I dont wanna move. The house is old but beautiful and in great shape except the heating and air conditioner needs replacing and all the pipes under the house need replacing because they could go at any minute. Those two things are the 2 reasons were are selling the house because we cant afford a new heat and air system, and new pipes under the house. But i love this house with a passion and so does my mom. what can we do to have to keep from moving. the heat and air need to be replaced soon and so do the pipes but we cant afford to replace them, so what else can we do about it besides moving. Its the best house we could ever get and we wouldnt ever have a house as nice as this one.Well we had a leak in one of the pipes and when the plumber put in a new pipe another pipe would spring a leak and it would keep springing leaks when he put a new pipe.

I picked up a gallon jug of windshield washer fluid in my shed thinking it was a mix of Miraclegrow and water. I poured it onto the sand & soil mix around about a dozen tomato plants. Is there anything I can do to save the plants, and will the tomatoes be edible when they ripen?

My husband heard really great things about GLADS new FORCE FLEX garbage bags. They are $2 more than the brand that we normally get at the wholesale club around $10 for 140 bags. The commerical shows people stuffing the bag with pizza boxes, and other garbage and the bags are NOT supposed to split. My husband is always complaining I overfill the garbage bags, so I thought I'd put these to the test.I have 2 children/dog so we always have trash going out. Upon looking at the bags they look small, but they are supposed to stretch. So, I empty the diaper genie and throw away the bathroom trash and a small box.Nothing out of the ordinary. The bags completely split open.OK, maybe it was too heavy- so the next bags I throw away a bottle like a wine bottle, not broken- and a cereal box, some papertowels and the bathroom trash. The bag completely splits and there's only 4 or 5 things in it. I HATE THESE BAGS.So, I called the customer service line and they want to send coupons for MORE bags...!

If you do, I want to hear about your misery dealing with Sears. If you don't think Sears sucks, you probably haven't purchased a major appliance from them and tried to deal with getting service on an appliance!

Thanks for your help!

I used to use vinegar based natural homemade cleaners but both me and my husband couldn't stand the house smelling like vinegar all the time - my husband is a mechanic and we have four cats, so I do a lot more cleaning than the average household. I tried adding EO's but found it barely masked the vinegar and didn't mix well in the solution anyway. I also found it may disinfect, but didn't clean as well as I would have liked for an all purpose cleaner. (yes, I've tried baking soda, but it's a pain to use on all surfaces because of the residue it can leave if you don't get it up perfectly.)

I fell back on Mr. Clean Multipurpose cleaner and it cleans much better and much more pleasant smelling, but I know it's not antibacterial. I don't want to switch to a real antibacterial cleaners due to more harsh chemicals than whats in Mr. Clean.

I was thinking about a compromise that would safe AND effective- in a 24 oz spray bottle I was thinking halfs vinegar/water with one tbspn Mr. Clean...?

I am wondering if something is wrong with the fridge. All the food in the freezer and fridge tastes funny with a weird metallic taste. Even the ice that comes out of the ice maker tastes this way. I first thought the ice was contaminating the whole thing, but the fridge part also? Even the ketchup and mustard tastes this way. I have thrown out all the old food and when I get home I will dump out all the old ice and clean the entire thing and put boxes of baking soda in the fridge and freezer. Has anyone had this problem before? Could I have a freon leak or something?
