We have changed the new float body, we have put a new stopper in it and nothing seems to work. Its at the point where we just have to turn it off. What else should I do?

stopper/flapper valve is not seating.flush the commode and add food dye to the tank water as it fills.if the dyed water begins to enter bowl, definitely a bad seal on the flapper valve.

Your flapper (the thing that lifts when you push the handle) is leaking. It may just need a chain/strap adjustment to allow it to seal properly. Flush the toilet, with the tank lid off, and as it is filling, pour in a couple cups of coffee (liquid only, no grounds). Watch the bowl for a while. If the water changes colors, your flapper is leaking. May just be calcium deposits on the sealing surface. Wipe off and check.

Try moving the float downward, so that the rising water in the tank tries to push the shut-off valve sooner. If that doesn't work, try replacing the entire flush mechanism, including the stopper seating.

You should replace the "flapper". It is allowing water to drain into the bowl. When the water getting low enough in the tank, it turns the water on and re-fills it. Get a new "flapper" at Home Depot for about $5.00.

My bet is a leak at the flapper valve.
Old plumbers trick:
Dry the flapper valve and apply a layer of vaseline at the sealing surface.
This will act as a flexible seal and generally eliminates minor leaks in this valve.

If you are unsuccessful, BE SURE to call a plumber to fix it for you. We waited too long and had to pay a $200 water bill. I kid you not!
