try going to your local store(any store ) ask them if they would save boxes for you or ask them when they have adeliverey date and see if you can come back on that day.

Go to your local ABC store (aka Liquor store). They have great boxes. For glass ware especially because they have cardboard sections in them. The local stores where I live gladly give them away.

Go to your local grocery store, and find out when they get their deliveries. Then ask them if it is ok to have some boxes.
Most grocery, restaurants will be glad to give away boxes.
