So I tried to clean up my friends iron, that had this big dark stain on it, it I suceded... a little... but now it is scratced and I can see copper (little red) color layer where used to be the stain. The iron surface is grey in general. Is it safe to iron with that (I mean manufactorrs can blend al sorts of substances together, can I be sure that with heat any harmuful mircoscopic things won´t get out of there, and any metal fractions won´t get to the fabric, cos I am allergic to some of metal things) or should I buy a new be bought? Dont really wanna buy a new one, if not necessary! I´m thankful for advise!

I am not too sure, test it on some clothing you don't want....you will have to ask the manufacturer or check their web page, there should be warnings if there is anything that could be harmful to your health.

Don't bother with it throw it away and get a new one there cheap eanough these days and to prevent that happening again get a protector, that fits on the iron it woin't matter how hot you set your iron then you will never burn anything. they look like plastic covers but they are heat risistant special material and you can actually iron silk without any damage at all. These iron covers are avalable at DIY stores etc. and there not that expenceive.

You can get one at a thrift store for about $1, so I wouldn't spend a lot of time trying to fix this one or worrying about the problems.
