I am wondering if something is wrong with the fridge. All the food in the freezer and fridge tastes funny with a weird metallic taste. Even the ice that comes out of the ice maker tastes this way. I first thought the ice was contaminating the whole thing, but the fridge part also? Even the ketchup and mustard tastes this way. I have thrown out all the old food and when I get home I will dump out all the old ice and clean the entire thing and put boxes of baking soda in the fridge and freezer. Has anyone had this problem before? Could I have a freon leak or something?

Oh, I live in a rental. I will notify my landlord of the problem once I have cleaned and tidied up the fridge. I don't want him blaming me for the problem.

Oh, I don't think I have a health problem either if anyone is going to stay that. My fiance and sister also say the food tastes strange.

No, it's not a complete mess. I just want to wipe eveyrthing down before the landlord blames me for the food tasting funny. I have only lived in this place for a month and I have been gone for 2 weeks on vacation, so there really isn't anything that bad in the fridge.

No, I am not pregnant. I thought I was last week, but just got done with my period. That was a relief anyways, my fiance and sister all agree with me on the funny taste in the fridge.

Tiding up the fridge?
So, then you are saying that it is a mess?
If you have open containers, any food exposed to the air, it will circulate throughout your fridge, and freezer, causing smell and bad taste through ALL your food.
Remove all the food and ice, clean with warm to cool water and baking soda in the water.
Clean well, and rinse well. If really bad, you can unplug the unit and leave the doors open for several hours after cleaning.
Put Arm and Hammer boxed baking soda in freezer and fridge. Two boxes in refridge, and one in freezer.
If it does not help, you will need to call the landlord and let him know.

sounds like a refrigerant leak on the evaporator facet. finally whilst the refrigerant has vented (escaped) it is going to lose its skill to take a seat back and you will lose all your perishables to spoilage. If that's greater suitable than ten years outdated save for a brand new one, even whether that's no longer the expenditures to repair this situation would be equivalent to changing it. Even in the resale company that's no longer incredibly well worth the attempt to repair it. of course do no longer devour something it is been contaminated.

Do you have a warranty on your fridge? If yes, take advantage of it and call the company or retailer that you purchased it from.

try wiping down the inside of the frig with a baking soda solution,( water and baking soda) then just put some dry baking soda in a bowl let it sit in the frig. this usually takes out the smells.

good luck
