I've gotten an apartment where the former occupants smoked heavily and the 3' x 5' venetian blinds are very yellowed and have gritty 'bits' adhering to them...dusting is useless. Does anyone have any recommendations on techniques/products to use on them to clean them up some?

There has to be a way. I can't be the only person with a nasty shower floor. But I'm just before shaving it down and just praying we don't slip. Acids don't work, magic erasers don't work. Automatic shower cleaners don't work... Help!! Please!!

I have a really pretty entertainment cabinet in my Family Room. Currently, I have 1 large pillar and 2 smaller candles on pillar holders. I also have 4 tealights. I used to have pictures towards the back. I am looking for decorating ideas to mix it up. I have had essentially the same decoration for the past few years. I get most creative around the holidays and am also looking for ideas for that time. Last year, I decided to treat it like a mantle, and hung stockings on the side of the cabinet. I also tried to weave a Christmas type of garland around the candles but just couldn't get it right. I could really use some ideas for everyday decorating and also for the holidays.

I don't have many kitchen utensils, but they are just thrown into a large drawer that isn't very deep. It looks sloppy and disorganized. I could buy a nice utensil holder, but I prefer to keep my counters fairly clear. I have some candles and a few decorative accesories, but that is pretty much it. My kitchen is small and I relish what counter space I have. Any tips for keeping the drawer organized? Do they sell a utensil organizer for drawers? Any tips that you may use that work?

Here is the story; I left for work the other day and the toilet overflowed (w/ clean water) However the water ran out alll day and we've been vacuming it and the carpets are pretty much dry, however I was wondering if their is any thing that draw the moisture left over from the carpet out. Also the wood baseboards and whatnot have absorb some water. Does anyone have any "tricks" or anything that helps draw the moisture out? I will try anything. Thank you, you tips are appreciated.

I did see a few questions like this, but was no help, my problem is i have a toilet that is flushing very slowly, and if i take a crap or something it takes like 3 to 4 flushes to get rid of it. What i have tried so far was 1.) Drain cleaners. .diddnt work. 2.) plunger, two days straight, ..diddnt work, 3.) auger, diddnt work.. goes in a little, but seems like toilet doesnt go down, but goes up...hope u understand. hole heads toward fill tank.. 4.) remove toilet.. did it, and there was nothing in the way(that i saw) in the big pipe.. So any help would be great.. sorry to bother u with this.. thanks for any help..

My hummingbirds can really eat up the nectar in my feeders. I like to thoroughly clean each feeder before re-filling it. To simplify this process, I make a large batch of h-food (4 to 1 water to sugar) and freeze it in advance. I've found the 32 oz. cottage cheese containers hold the perfect amount for my feeders. When a feeder is low or needs changing, I defrost a container, and clean the feeder thoroughly, then fill it up. Is there anything wrong or harmful about doing it this way? I also like to wait until the water has come to a boil before adding the sugar. Once the water is boiling, I reduce the heat, add the sugar and stir for 3-4 minutes until the water is crystal clear. This prevents boil overs. Again, is this approach OK?

I bought a Lilly of the Valley about a month ago and the leaves are now turning yellow and I don't want it to die. I left it out in the sun for a while and I also gave it quite a bit of water. I am not sure if that has anything to do with it. I also gave it some root growth stuff to see if that would help but it didn't. It kept getting more and more yellow and there is barely and green anymore. There aren't any flowers yet and it is in a good sized pot. Please help it is a very important plant to me.
