It's that I'm in the basement, and so my room usually smells musty like the basement!

Start by inspecting for any leaks and get a product called Damp Rid. You can find it at Walmart cheap. Also, open a window and place a fan on the window sill and face it OUT so when you turn it on it sucks the stale, smelly air out instead of blowing it around the room. This work great for cooking odors too. Get OUST for the air, and Lysol for surface areas to kill bacteria that is causing the odors. Clean window frames with bleach water. Also you can leave small bowls of vinegar sitting out. Using scented oils will not get rid of the problem, only cover it up. If you actually want to get RID of the source of the odors do as I suggested above.

I like incense, which comes in a wide variety of scents, but some people use plug-in air freshener, which is effective. Opening the window to aerate the room is best, but there are times when you can't do that, so the incense is good then.

Mix white vinegar and water and put it in a spray bottle it works great to freshen the air. You could also get one of those air wick automatic sprayers that you can set to spray every few minutes they work great.

Pier One sells these oils - they come in a cute glass with little mini bamboo sticks coming out that disperse the scent without being too strong. I am sensitive to smell but these are good - as long as you don't buy a sweet scent. I like pear and also biscotti (vanilla).
