Help please?

I dont want to replace the door- the hole is in the center of the door- pressed in with a fist indentation but didnt go through to the other side of the door. Any way to repair without replacing the full door?

If the door is painted, this is an easy fix. Just use wood putty or all purpose putty to fill the hole, sand it smooth and paint over it.

If it is a natural wood finish, you will have to replace the door. It is possible to repair, but it takes a lot of skill and practice to simulate the grain in a wood repair.

Good luck.

If its a painted door use Durhams Rock Hard putty and sand smooth and repaint. If this is a wood grain door check the cost of a hollow core door as they are about $25.00. If that is not possible to do then you will need to remove the door and its hardware. Next get a 1/4" or less sheet of plywood and some construction adhesive. Spread adhesive over door evenly then take the sheet of plywood and lay it on top of door. Weight down with concrete blocks or bricks, clamps and wood cauls will also accomplish this. After adhesive has cured take a router with a flush trim bit and follow along the door. Plunge in at door knob hole and do the same. If you don't have a router you can do this with a jig saw but be careful and take your time. Stain with matching stain and finish. Depending on what side of the door this is on you may have to remove the trim around the door jamb and close door and reinstall door trim.

You can put wood filler on it and sand it smooth. You may even be able to use auto body filler to do the same thing. good luck.

a nice mirror will cover it. They make light weight full length ones to hang there.
