Is there a difference between dishwasher liquid and dishwasher detergent?

I have to do an experiment and they ask me to use dishwasher liquid and detergent and some other 8 things to use in an acid base indicator test. Please help!!

Oh yeah what it actually said was dishwashing liquid, dishwasher detergent

Are you sure the terms were Dishwasher and not Dishwashing. Dishwashing liquid or detergent are not made to be used in dishwashers.
