Suddenly I have tons of baby watermelons and they've taken over mine, and my neighbors yards.

No, you only need to water at the main plant (roots). If you have more watermelons than you want/need, you can cut off the ends of some of the vines. This will force the plant to pay attention to the fruit (melons) that are already on the vine and make sure that they mature. It will make the plant put it's energy into the watermelons that are already there!! I would also suggest that you place each watermelon on a tile or a brick. This will lift each above the soil so that they do not rot on the bottom. It will also keep certain bugs from burrowing into the bottoms!

no you don't have to water the vines,that is the problem with growing watermelons is that the vines will be invasive,that's why they need room to grow

No. Water at the root ball area. Water on the leaves will magnify the sunlight and cause spotting and leaf blight.
