I bought a Lilly of the Valley about a month ago and the leaves are now turning yellow and I don't want it to die. I left it out in the sun for a while and I also gave it quite a bit of water. I am not sure if that has anything to do with it. I also gave it some root growth stuff to see if that would help but it didn't. It kept getting more and more yellow and there is barely and green anymore. There aren't any flowers yet and it is in a good sized pot. Please help it is a very important plant to me.

Lily of the valley is a perennial that blooms in the spring. We have a large bed of them that were here when we moved in 26 years ago. They have thrived with no care whatsoever, I even have to mow them back to keep the bed from spreading. Some of them are starting to turn yellow as they do every fall, probably from stress due to lack of rain. We would suggest finding a spot for it in your garden and planting it. Add some compost to the soil and maybe some bone meal. It will come back next spring and bloom for you.

Lily of the Valley like shade and they are past their bloom period. Lily of the valley bloom in the spring so the best thing you can do is plant your new plant in a nice shady spot and wait until next year. My bet is that it will come back. Most perennials have a boom time and for some it is longer than others but not too many bloom non stop from spring til fall. Good Luck and be careful not to kill your plants with love, it shouldn't need root growth stuff now!

I do believe when you water some plants too much they turn yellow . this sounds as though what you have done and there may be no saving this plant . but take it out of the direct sun and let it dry out and then start again . good luck .

Boy those are beautiful flowers. I think it's important to limit the watering. I know for a fact I did this to my vegetables and the next thing you know you get yellow leaves.
