My mother always used baby oil to lift stickiness out of anything that wasn't porous. Put a good amount on a cloth or paper towel and scrub the sticky spot. It should come right up. Just make sure to wipe up the baby oil afterward.

Alcohol works great, like rubbing alcohol. But of course, I don't know where on the TV the sticky stuff is at so consider the location before you start dabbing alcohol all over it. It will take a little bit of work and time, but it will come off.

If it's on the glass part, you can be more aggressive with your cleaning but if it's on the plastic parts, test in an unnoticeable spot first.
WD-40 works well. You might buy a can of carb cleaner in an auto parts store, spray that on a rag and wipe it on the screen. But with the latter, it's hard on paint, carpet and skin.

The best thing to use is good old WD-40. It's fish oil based and will easily clean the sticky off your set.

Any of the above, or there is a product called Tape Off (it may be spelled Tap-Off, I don't remember for certain) It was may favorite when I cleaned houses.
