I have an older Singer 457 which until yesterday ran great but as I sewing denim, my needle hit something and would not down. I took the face plate/slide plate off and discovered the metal piece that the bobbin case sits in had moved and the needle was hitting the bottom plate. I moved it slightly and now the top thread will not pick up the bobbin thread. Does that bobbin case holder have to be in a certain position? And is it supposed to turn? It will turn occasionally when I put the needle down but then only for a second. I have tried everything but still cannot get the bobbin thread to pick up. Please help, I am in the middle of a project. No stupid answers, please........ Thanks.

I see this plant all over the place outside but apparently the lawn mowers get to them before the pretty little blooms have a chance to grow is there a way to grow it indoors? I think this plant is extremely fascinating and would like to take photos of the blooms.

I have a young sweet gum tree planted in a small front yard. I know these trees can grow to be very large. I would like to keep this tree smaller in height and width...no more than 30 feet high and no more than 15 to 20 feet in witdth. Is is possible to keep these trees pruned to this smaller proportion? Also, I have a sprinkler system in this small yard. Will the roots from this tree interfere with the sprinkler plumbing?

I am looking for red anemones or poppies to use in bouquets for a July wedding, and have been unable to find any to order (no help from local florists either considering budget restraints). Do I have time to grow my own? I am in zone 9-10. Any specific varieties?

The copper lines on my A/C unit iced over. The outside unit still runs, but no A/C flows in the house. "Fan Only" doesn't even work. The unit is just over a year old.

What causes this?

I have one that a friend gave me. At first it looked ill and had some kind of mold in the dirt. I replanted it and watered it all winter and now it is starting to look pretty good. My question is - How big will it get?

I own a table saw and I need to cut quite thin stips of mdf (about 15mm wide). I have previously been adviced that the saw blade should be set so that it is just above the height of the material being cut. The problem I'm having is that to cut narrow stips of wood I obviously need the fence quite close to the blade and the blade cover above gets in the way. I can only get the fence in really close if I raise the blade height, which obviously raises the blade cover as well. But this now means the blade is well over the height of the material. My question is this, is it safe to remove the plastic blade guard when using the machine? What exactly is the point of the blade guard anyway apart from being a sort of safety feature to stop you getting hurt. If it is not safe to remove the cover, then is there anyway around this problem?

As summer approaches, i cant help but be reminded of the past summers spent with countless, annoying insects that somehow seem to always makes their way into my home. I had an idea to use a carnivorous plant, and the first one that came to mind was, of course, the venus fly trap. The only thing is that i heard they only eat about 5 bugs in their entire lifetime. Any suggestions on any other plants to help?
