my gardenia plant has black specks on leaves how do i get rid of them?

Try using horticultural oil spray on them. It sounds like aphids or spider mites and oil sprays are very effective. Don't forget to spray the underside too because there is usually a lot there too. There is no poison in it (it works by coating them and they suffocate) so it's safe to use indoors or out.
