I just purchased a house that has an unlevel floor. The ends of 4 joist had dropped a bit and the floor is wavy due to water damage. The span of the joists are 13 feet long. How would I go about repairing?

were can you get discounted materials if you decided to just try to figure it out on your own. i want to make my own furiture. chairs, stools, chests, beds etc. but will it end up costing the same as just buying it after paying for your material, wood, varnish, springs, nails, stain etc? so this is kinda a 2 in 1 question... school and cost ...

a simple playhouse/storage building for my son amd myself respectively, and would like to know if anyone could give me some tips on the easiest to do. I am a little savvy in the carpentry aspect of SIMPLE things, for exmple, studs 2*4, sheetrocking, but one problem I have is roofing and how to connect the walls. I would like to use regular ole pine studs and use 3/4" plywood for the floor. The walls on the outside will be easy---just some siding. I plan on insulating with 18" insulation(rolls) and then sheet rocking. Yes, tape and floating also. I helped my dad(rip) many years when I was a kid with this stuff but he always had the walls up and concrete floors all I had to do was insulate and sheetrock...any advice would be greatly appreciated....have a good one

I want to run cable from one room to another on the same floor without destroying the house. If possible I could also run it up from the ceiling of the room below.

I am rehabbing a property and it did not have a ground rod. I drove one in and connected it to the electrical box with solid copper wire as it should be. I am removing all of the old galvanized plumbing and replacing it with cpvc. When I disconnected the grounding system from the old galvanized pipe, 1/2 of the elctircal box gained 9 volts and the other half lost 9 volts. When re-connected, both legs of the box read 118.6.

The ground rod, nor the ground from the pole do not seem to matter as much as the water pipe ground. Why is that?

Any advice would be appreciated.

i want a carpet cleaner for cleaning our carpets every few months. We have a dog and 2 cats and I really think we need one. I have heard that a lot of carpet cleaners lose cleaning power fast and that you need to research which one is a good brand. I know that $200 isn't that much to invest but we really don't want to spend a fortune on it. Does anybody know of or have a good brand or know which ones to not buy. Our place is pretty small (about 1,300 Sq. Ft. ) so i'm not too concerned about having to buy a fairly small model. Thanks...

We had a Wickes Heat 40 installed about 2.5 years ago. A few months ago, we noticed it wasn't starting from the timer/constant switch and any time we wanted to switch it on we'd have to turn the knob from reset to on about 10 times.

Once we manage to get it on, it stays on and is quite reliable but the moment we switch it off for a few hours, it needs resetting again.

It was serviced last year and all was fine. It IS due for a service now but wondered whether someone here might have suggestions before we pay out for a technician to 'solve' the problem at extorntionate rates!!

Thanks
