re-dying professionally is costly but is "A" number one. Try this cut out a square of the carpeting containing the stain. (If it is near a seam make sure you include that seam as one side of the square cut. Now find a hidden carpeting area - under a piece of furniture or closet, (Next being sarcastic - next time you buy carpeting save a square yard) When you switch the square carpeting use carpet tape (some good duct tape could work but may not stick well to all base fibers)

A clean cut with a sharp single edge razor blade and a good ruler or right angle are helpful tools.

PS. Keep a glass jar with a screw on cap to move some bleach around a home.

Small burn marks and stains -- on low cut carpeting. try getting a bunch of fibers - small - need be cut with razor blad . place a couple of drops of glue on stain - drop on fibers - pat lightly on damage area - things will blend in

go get the same dye that is used on clothing called "RIT", and try to get a color that matches your carpet as perfectly as you can. Another possible way would be to use a hair dye, that is if your carpet is an easy color like brown. Also you might try to call a carpet cleaning company and ask if they know where to buy carpet dye, don't tell them why because then they might try to sell you on something, you know. If i were you and didn't have much money, I'd definitely go with the RIT dye, its cheap and easy to find, just go to any drug or most grocery stores, at the very least it wont be as noticeable as the big white bleach stain!

It needs to be patched. If you can take a piece of carpet from an inconspicuous area like a closet. I carpet guy can seam it in with the rest of the carpet. You will have a spot in the closet with no carpet but better there than the living room.

Color is gone. If there is carpeting in another unseen area (closet??) cut a patch from there and exchange with the bleached spot.

Even the best carpet coloring will not be perfect.......but it may be your only option if a patch can't be found.

Unfortunately there's no cheap way to fix it since bleach basically removes the dye or color from the fabric permanently. There are some companies who restore carpets, they basically re-dye the affected area and it doesn't come cheap. :( If your carpet has a basic color, you can probably dye it yourself.
