I have a home with two bedrooms of the exact same size right next to each other. I want to knock the wall down and make it into one large bedroom. Any estimates on how much this might cost? Also, once the wall is knocked down, my guess is that a small part of wall might have to be built to cover one of the door areas of one part since the doors in the two rooms face the same direction. Anyone have experience with this sort of thing?

Our grass is starting to come back from the winter. We have dead patches in it. We bought "weed and feed" and seed. I know I can't do them both at the same time. Which one do I do first? I mowed the lawn short this morning and it is supposed to rain tomorrow.

I have a very symmetrical mark, 17X25, along one wall in one room. The roof has been checked; it's not leaking. There are no marks in the attic under the insulation. Where else can water be coming in from and why would the spot be so even? I have sprayed the spot with bleach water so I can tell when/if it should leak again. I have gutter toppers; could they be contributing to this problem? What about the over hang?
And, most importantly, what kind of repair person should I call to fix this? I don't want a salesperson - I need a maintenance/construction type person. I had a roofer look at it - he charged me a huge amount of money and never looked in the attic to see that the roof wasn't even leaking, so where do I go from here?

I received a juniper bonsai tree as a Valentine's Day present, and the instructions mentioned that the branches should be pruned every 6 weeks but did not give specific directions.

Since we had the warm weather this year in the Midwest the Ants are all out already. I have been fighting them the past two years but can't get rid of them. Have a few mound in the yard, I also suspect there may be one under the house. I have used Ant dust and buttons, doesn't seem to do anything. I even dumped the dust right into a mound. I do not want to get an exterminator. I would like to exterminate them myself once and for all, and do it economiclly.

They are black ants in two sizes, large and medium. They seem to like sweet and grease. They also wander at random.

My backyard slants a little bit, so one end is a foot or two higher than the other. I plan to build it in terraced segments so that I don't wind up with it really deep on the low end. I will use sand and a level to ensure that each bottom row paver is level and secure. The question is... should I start at the low end of the yard (that's what my gut instinct tells me) or should I start at the high end of the yard?

Does anyone know of a North American distributor of these South African solar panels?

If not a current supplier, then a "negotiations pending" supplier?

The cost per panel would also be helpful.

I have seen web postings about painting laminate cabinets with a paint technology called "Diamond Hard." I know there are at least two manufacturers of this type of paint, one of which is "Majic". It is not available at Lowes, Home Depot or Ace Hardware and my web searches have not helped! I'd like to find a brick and mortar store that carries it versus online so I can see the swatches!

Thanks!
Rachel

I've been searching Google for the technical jargon in attempt to not sound dumb/confusing, but I've given up. When I moved into this house, the sink in my bathroom was broken. The little handle thing that you pull upwards to plug the sink and push down to unplug it isn't there, so the plug itself is always down (and the sink is always plugged.) How do you fix this (without hiring a plumber)??

I live in Southern California on the second floor of an apartment complex. There is one wall mounted AC in the living room, but it doesn't even begin to reach my room when turned on full blast. I need to get a portable ac for my bedroom (relatively small in size) since the window configuration does not allow a traditional window mounted unit. Of all the ones I've looked into, the only fault customers have consistantly complained about is that a tray of some sort needs to be placed under the air conditioner to collect the water removed from the air, and it tends to spill all over the floor when trying to drain.

Is there a model that would allow the draining of the water through a tube connected to the window in small amounts (I don't want to rain down buckets of water on people walking down below), or maybe even an innovative new design that bypasses the need to collect and empty condensate all together?

Thanks :D
