Bright sun is fine, but they won't take the heat! in the midwest, they're good for spring and fall only. When the days get above 85, thy're pretty well done.

Pansy's are some of the easiest plants to take care of...plant them and they'll do great. I live on Long island new york, and i have a rock garden that they took over in the spring, but during the occasional 85-100 degree weather they started to fry a bit. Later in the season once it cools down a bit it they will pop right up...in your garden, in random pots, among rocks, in your lawn........
but yea, they love light

No, in north Georgia we plant them in the fall and they live through the winter until spring, they don't like hot scalding summer sun. They look really pretty now, and it is hard to pull them up for summer annuals.
