I live in an apartment, don't know my neighbors, but I have recently seen quite a few roaches in my apartment. What's the best way to get rid of these pests? I'm quite neat and clean (in fact most people call me OCD) So I know its not my cleanliness. But as I mentioned I also live in an apartment complex, with 3 other apartments in my building (There are about 10 buildings in the entire complex) I don't live next to a dumpster, but I do live kinda in the woods. (There are a lot of trees nearby) What is the best way for me to secure my apartment of this. I'm starting to spot 2-3 per day. Not many I know, but if I'm seeing that many...I know there are many more. Any advice?

i've had trouble sleeping since moving here and i wonder if there's a connection and if the city or local electric company will test - not that they would admit high levels, but i'm on disability currently and can't really afford to have it tested myself. would really appreciate any suggestions.

I have a large birdhouse in my backyard. Although it is long overdue for a cleaning, I still see birds flying around it. I want to take it down before the spring but I fear disturbing any nests that might be in it.

Do birds nest in the winter? Or are they just hanging out there? I obviously do not know much about birds, I simply enjoy their presence and I want to see to it that I am providing a suitable home, I fear this one might cause or spread disease. What do I do?

I have kids 6, 2, and 11 months. Although there is tons of work to do in the home, I feel like the majority of the time is spent doing for them (dressing them, changing diapers, feeding and entertaining). I get frustrated trying to find activities that will include all 3, because usually it doesn't work. I don't want to become uncaring and just turn them over to the tv, video games, and computer, but it seems like they are happier doing that stuff. When I'm trying to do fun things and play with them , they seem so unappreciative... how can I enjoy them more and not feel so obligated to be this "supermom"? I'm blessed to have them and to be able to stay home, but some days I just want to scream (today being one of those days). I'd rather be cleaning the toilet than listening to the complaints and nonsense.....

There is a regular noise coming from inside the wall (near the baseboard) of our 100 year old house. It is a faint, single "tick" about once every 30 to 45 seconds. It is barely noticeable except at night when the house is quiet. There is an electrical outlet on that wall, but almost nothing plgged into it. We also have hot water heat, but as far as I know there are no pipes running there. Any ideas?

We have an oil-heated furnace. It was working fine until we accidentally ran out of oil. We had to bleed the line to get it started again. Since then, it randomly turns itself off. We go downstairs, hit the little reset button on the furnace (not the emergency switch, there is a small, round reset button), and it comes back on. Happens 2 or three times a day - once usually in the middle of the night. Anyone know what could be causing this or how we could fix it without having to put in a service call?
