i've had trouble sleeping since moving here and i wonder if there's a connection and if the city or local electric company will test - not that they would admit high levels, but i'm on disability currently and can't really afford to have it tested myself. would really appreciate any suggestions.

There's no need to test it. They emit HUGE amounts of electromagnetic energy. It has been linked to birth defects and a large number of other ailments. If it is as much a problem for you as it appears, I would look for new digs and move.

What do you want it tested for? All power lines emit electromagnetic radiation. The bigger the lines, the more they emit. There hasn't been enough research done to determine what the safe levels are.
