I live in an apartment, don't know my neighbors, but I have recently seen quite a few roaches in my apartment. What's the best way to get rid of these pests? I'm quite neat and clean (in fact most people call me OCD) So I know its not my cleanliness. But as I mentioned I also live in an apartment complex, with 3 other apartments in my building (There are about 10 buildings in the entire complex) I don't live next to a dumpster, but I do live kinda in the woods. (There are a lot of trees nearby) What is the best way for me to secure my apartment of this. I'm starting to spot 2-3 per day. Not many I know, but if I'm seeing that many...I know there are many more. Any advice?

If you're in an apartment it's hopeless unless everyone in the building is working together. The roaches will move along the wires and plumbing between apartments. I don't recommend over the counter sprays. They stink, are dangerous and don't work very well. Combat or Raid roach baits will help, but the management of your complex needs to get involved and have every unit in the building treated professionally, all on the same day.

Don't waste your money on store bought remedies. Call Terminix & they will get rid of your cockroaches for you. They use sprays & powders inside, that you can hardly smell, & they spray outdoors too. The first visit runs around $60 & they will set up a schedule where they will call you & come out every so often. Anyone can have cockroaches & it doesn't mean they are dirty people. They like to live where it's dry & dark, especially under appliances. Watch for food spills along the sides of your stove too. Cockroaches can come home with you in paper bags, etc.

I don't know if you have them around your area but I do know that hedge apples will get rid of roaches, ant, spiders and some other insects. Just get a few and put them under you sinks and other places you may have seen roaches. I guarantee within a short time you won't be seeing any more roaches. Good luck! JRK

The simplest, cheapest, non-toxic and long lasting way is to use boric acid in powder form. It is safe and is even used as a antiseptic but it destroys roaches.

Just sprinkle it around where they tend to travel, especially baseboards and backs of cabinets. They pick it up on their feet and even transport it back to kill their buddies in hiding along with any eggs they touch. The real beauty of it is that they can't develop a tolerance or immunity to it. It can be found at most home stores or grocery stores and it's cheap.

You should have cheeked every corner of that apartment before you moved in. That's what my mom did and we found roaches. Just go to the store and buy every bug spray known to man. I've heard that tobacco plants make a good bug killer but I wouldn't try it.
