We have a 1997 double-wide trailer and I asked my parents could we paint my room for my christmas present. My dad said no. His reason was, he claims that you just can't paint over the walls. We have wall paper on it now and the walls are thin sheet rock. I was wondering if it can be done, and if anyone has done it will you tell me. I need as many answers as possible. Thanks.

We recently had a home movie break while in the vcr. It's a clean diagonal slice and I was just wondering if there's any way to tape it back together....or another way to repair it at home.

There is a horrible smell in the bathroom that seems to be coming from behind the wall. Since the house was recently built we are afraid that a squirrel or something might have gotten caught and died. Short of ripping out walls until we find the source, what can we do. Will the the smell eventually go away - how long would it take for something like that to fully decompose? Is there any other likely cause of something like this? We have checked venting, fixtures etc. and everything seems fine.

I am interested in making my own laundry detergent and fabric softener. Does anyone have any experience with this? Do you have direction on how to do so? What about stain removal. I have found that buying detergent and the other stuff is so expensive and we go through a lot of it, so if I could make my own it would help out a lot! Thanks to all in advance for answers : )

I have a great, solid dark wood table. It has a finish on it and when I dust it I use Pledge with orange oil extract. Looks great after... but beyond dusting, I sometimes need to really clean it. Food and beverages leave residue that Pledge and a paper towel can't get out. What should I use?

house is 9 years old. (as far as I know, no history of roof leaking)
This is in houston.
It rains fairly often in houston- no probelm for me
Three weeks ago- it rained for about 24 hours... and a few days later noticed a brownish patch on two locations on ceiling. I went upstairs and saw that the leak locations corresponded to the drain vent areas.
-the flashing looks intact
- the rubber collar around it looks intact. There is however a 2-3mm gap at two locations between pipe and collar (in essence I can see daylight).
- the blown insulation below the pipe looks intact (no sign of lots of water falling on it) but if you move the insulation you can see the water stain on the ceiling board.

I figured water will come through the leak in very small quantities everytime it rains. However with many hours of rain the water is significant enough to dampen the ceiling.
-Will putting some roof/flashing sealant solve my problem?
- should I put from the inside or outside of the roof?

so I went into the attic to see what the problem with the bathroom vent was and found out that the builder had cut some corners.
The vent pipe was there but not connected to the vent. and the other end of the pipe was just lying about 4 feet away.
- The nearest place (5 feet) I can vent out to is the ridge vent- is this acceptable?
- The nearest soffitt vent is about 25 feet away- is this preferable
- house was built in 1997. Builder is still around- are they responsible for the costs?

I guess what I'm really trying to say is.. I need a good verbal kick-in-the-butt kind of motivational incentive or something to just get the rest of the decorations up and get the house finished before it gets any later. I feel as though I'm at a 'stall' and just can't seem to find a place to start,, I still have all the usual Christmas things to do like, baking, shopping, wrapping, but for some reason I feel as though I just don't have the Christmas Spirit right now. I know I will sometime before Christmas, but it's important to me to get caught up with all the preparations first, but just need some words of wisdom from all you highly-spirited A#1 organizers to tell me what I need to hear to just get started. Does anyone have the right words to say to get me 'mentally going' ???
