I am interested in making my own laundry detergent and fabric softener. Does anyone have any experience with this? Do you have direction on how to do so? What about stain removal. I have found that buying detergent and the other stuff is so expensive and we go through a lot of it, so if I could make my own it would help out a lot! Thanks to all in advance for answers : )

According to various websites, white vinegar can be used as a substitute for fabric softner. Recipies at websites listed.

And, according to various websites, laundry detergent can easily be made in large quantities from mild bar soaps and washing soda. Recipies at websites listed.

I hope this helps!

I don't know how you can make your own, but borax (found in the laundry section) works really well for stain removal and cleaning for pretty much everything. You get a huge box of powder fo about $5.
