My friend's house burned down yesterday (the bedrooms survived) and all of the clothing she and her daughters were able to save smell like smoke. I tried washing them but the smell hasn't really gone away. Is there any way to get it out?

We recently built a house. The well digger hit water at 22 feet and continued until the well was 34 feet. He assured us that we would not have any water problems. Well, last week our well was so low, the pump was unable to pump water. We have had alot of rain lately so this really scares me. I was told that it is not so uncommon for a well to be bad during the first year. We did not have a written contract. I have contacted my States Attorney, he says I do not have a case to take legal action. Any suggestions out there as to what I should do. We hauled water the other day, and this is not something i want to get used to.

The oak tree over our house has dropped hundreds (probably thousands) this fall, and neither raking nor vacuuming them with my leaf blower is doing any good. Help!

We moved out together about 3 months ago, And have had a relationship going for the last 4 years. However more and more its bothering me that I do the laundry, the dishes, the cleaning, the garbage, the kitty chores, and buying all the groceries plus paying my half of the rent and bills right down the middle and i bought all the furniture for the apartment as well. How can I make this work better Because Im alittle tired of being used like a maid. I've told him he needs to pick up some of the workload and he hasnt. I'm thinking of making a chore list and assigning them to ourselves each week but are their any other methods you might recommend and if i do a chore list any suggestions for it?

We have heard/read that it is no longer suggested to put in concrete/quickcrete when installating a fence (only in the holes were the posts will be placed). We heard that over time it corrodes the hole, is this true? It was also suggested to just put gravel in the hole instead. What is the correct way, we can seem to find a straight consistent answer anywhere! Also what is the typical wait time for a utility company to come out and mark lines where we can not dig?

I plan to install a direct to stud kit in my bathroom. I do not want to remove the wallboard, but rather go over top of the existing tile. I need to remove the outer row of tile so the kit will sit flush against the wall. I don't know if there is a stud behind where I need to screw it to the wall; probably not. Can I just use adhesive to attach it to the wall or do I need to screw it in? If so, what is the best kind of adhesive?

I have been looking at Dyson all floors vacuum cleaners for a long time now. Are they worth all that money? Will they pick up my cats' fluff? Carpet and laminate floors? Are they as easy as they look for using on the stairs (telescope handle)? Fed up with spending money on vacuums that don't brush at all or suck effectively.

My dimmer is broke and now I have tied the two strings together.. Is this safe? I got a shock when I touched the copperwire but replaced the cap of the dimmer without the mechanism in it...
Is that safe??

I'm thinking of making my dining room, that is in the center of the house and goes unused for most of the year, a family room. Then turn an unused bedroom that is adjacent to the kitchen into the dining room. Just wondering the size of an average dining room? Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated
