The oak tree over our house has dropped hundreds (probably thousands) this fall, and neither raking nor vacuuming them with my leaf blower is doing any good. Help!

Well, if neither raking, sucking them up with your leaf blower set to vacuum, or hell even if using a shop vac dont work, your only bet now would be to get on your hands and knees to pick em all up. I've had this problem before at my old house and after sucking up as much as I could with my shop vac, I stil ended up having to get on my hands and knees and pick em up by hand. Just keep a small bucket handy. Good luck...

Anything you try is likely to be very labor-intensive, but one thing that comes to mind is to rent a power dethatcher. This may or may not be able to pick up the acorns, but I'm guessing that the action of the machine probably will. If it doesn't work so well on the acorns, you'll at least get rid of any thatch buildup you may have. Hope it works!

Ooh. Lots of acorns or pine cones means a hard winter.

Lock up the cats so the squirrels can get the acorns, looks like they'll need them!

I would make a tall fence around the yard and go capture all the squirrels in the neighborhood. They would either eat them or bury them. And just that easily, problem solved.
