Yikes this is a serious problem.
I really don't have a suggestion with rubber cement.
The following are just ideas.
1. Heat with a hair dryer and see if you can scrape any off.
2. If you can take the cover off, put it in the freezer to see if you can get it cold enough to break some off.
3. I do know rubber cement lasts years when you use it.
4. Perhaps a solvent of some kind.
5. Read the can to see if they recommend a solvent to remove it.
Good Luck.

I agree that freezing is your best bet as the rubber cement would become brittle and hence become easier to break off.
Solvents strong enough or sufficient heating to effect rubber cement will likely effect the sofa fabric.
I have a feeling that you may need to have the sofa repaired and/ or covered in a secondary sofa cover by the end of this.
Good luck and good point Samm.

I know this one... I have used crazy glue to close wounds and as you can imagine sometimes glue digits together etc... The best way to remove it it with Acetone (Nail polish remover is a good source)... It will dissolve the glue and evaporate quickly... test a little so you'll l know if it will discolour the fabric...Hope this helps

Try some clear PVC pipe cleaner. It will set you back about $5 at most hardware stores for a small can of it.
Make sure to try it on a test spot first to avoid discoloring.

It depends on the fabric. If the fabric is cotton, you can try a solvent like mineral spirits. This won't hurt the cotton or the foam inside.
